Traditionally in China, every 12th year after the year of one’s birth people wear this type of bracelet every day for the entire year on those years when the Chinese calendar matches their birth sign. The year 2012 is the Year of the Dragon on the Chinese calendar so this bracelet would traditionally be worn everyday by men and women born during a previous Year of the Dragon.

The Chinese calendar follows a 12 year cycle, making it easy to calculate every Year of the Dragon by subtracting 12 from the year. For example, the following would be Year of the Dragon years: 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952,1940,1928, etc.
